How do you choose your book's genre?

So, how did I choose my genre to write?  Simple.  Easy.  It chose me.  (wide smile)

But, seriously, it did. 

Ask yourself.  What do you like to read?  That might be a start. 

For me, I always had an interest in Paranormal things, and I do like a good romance story, so merging the two interests seemed the right thing to do.

Then, I just went from there.  I still enjoy writing paranormal romance but when an idea for a contemporary romance came up, in my head, I went with that genre. So, that’s how I got into writing multiple genres.  You go with your gut. Your instinct.  I will always tell you to do this because most of the time, you are right.  You are your best source of advice.  If-You listen to it.

Soon, I will be delving into Monster Romance.  Well- I like reading monster romance, and I am already writing shape shifter stories, so why not?  I am excited for this new venture and am honored to include myself amongst the many other authors that are writing in this genre. 

So, you do you and do what’s best for you.  You will, instinctively, know what genre fits you best.  I have faith in you!
