Network, Network, Network!

Network.

As an author, I can’t say this enough.  You always want to keep your options open because you never know when an opportunity might present itself.  You also never know when you might need to reach out to an author in your network to ask them a quick question or two.  Authors are invaluable to one’s growth and insight as authors have individualized personal experience that a Google search will not provide to you.

But know this.  An author’s journey or path is often solo.

There will be times when you may feel left out, ignored or on your own even though you do have a network, you are loved and respected by fellow authors and readers and you are savvy at what you do.

I feel this, at times, and it hurts.  But- don’t let that get you down.  Keep going.

Remember, as authors we are different.  We are strong and we chose this path so that means we can do it.

It’s at times like this that you may want to do something positive for another author.  Spread positivity on social media because remember, part of your network is your reader base, too.

Get to know authors and even follow them.  This is how you learn what works for you and what doesn’t.  You may see an author doing something and think…hmmm.. Wonder if that will work for me, too?  Don’t be afraid to try new tactics because sometimes those might be good for you, too.

Attend presentations, events, and get yourself out there.  And remember, keep doing what you love.
